Muscular Dystrophy Ireland and SMA Ireland together are campaigning for adults with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) to have equal access to life-saving treatments, just like those who were under 18 when the treatments were approved. Around 20 adults in Ireland are being denied these treatments just because of their age at the time when the HSE approved them. You can find out more about the campaign here.
We are asking you to help amplify our community voice by contacting your TDs and senators to urge their support in rectifying this injustice, and asking them to attend a special briefing event at Leinster House on 27 May.
You can simply use the letter template below and select the TDs and senators in your area.
Join us in addressing this unfair treatment and denial of human rights based on age so that all individuals living with SMA are given fair access to the treatments they need to improve their quality of life.
Thank you for taking the time to take part in the campaign! You can find out more about the campaign and other ways to support it here.
