I am writing to you as your constituent to ask you to proactively support the campaign for equal access to treatments for SMA adults.

Muscular Dystrophy Ireland and SMA Ireland together are campaigning for adults with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) to have equal access to life-saving treatments, just like those who were under 18 when the treatments were approved. Approximately 20 adults in Ireland are being denied these treatments, and ultimately their human rights, just because of their age at the time when the HSE approved the treatments. More information about the campaign is available on https://www.mdi.ie/smatreatmentsforall.

I am asking you to demonstrate your commitment to ending this age-based discrimination by:

•	Attending a briefing on the campaign at the Audio-Visual Room, Leinster House at 4pm on Tuesday 27 May. Your attendance and support would be greatly appreciated.

•	Leveraging your role as our elected representative to address this glaring injustice and working to ensure that all individuals living with SMA in Ireland are given fair access to the treatments they need to improve their quality of life. Every day without treatment means further progression of the condition.

•	Showing your support for this campaign by sharing campaign posts on social media.
